My friends were able to borrow a GPS to help in driving around South Western Australia. Without it it would have been impossible to cover so much area. We did not lose time at all and we were never lost except once perhaps. Even then it was a lovely "lost in the wild" moment.
This is a modern device travellers can invest in.
