Kayaks vs Longboats

Borneoans like us would have no problem kayakking in the Indian Ocean : could that be an exaggeration? I found a Sarawak Iban who cannot swim yesterday to my surprise. Ibans take to water like ducks!

My first attempt at canoeing was in 1968 when my classmates attempted to paddle across the Straits of Johore.

That was a long time ago I told my travelling companions.

Since then my life has been just simple equatorial motorised long boat rides in the Rajang;the Baram and the Limbang Rivers etc!!!

I had memorable long boat rides in the Tutus River(Sarawak) with the Methodist Mobile Clinic in 1969.

Now I am probably not the right age for kayakking.
